HEAP Eligibility and Certification now Updated for 2008/2009
The TrainingSpace course HEAP Eligibility and Certification has been updated for the 2008/2009 heating season and is now back online. The content has been rewritten to account for new policy changes, including the $1 HEAP benefit. Interactive case studies throughout the course now reflect the new dollar amounts and revised forms for the 2008-2009 heating season.
The course is intended to assist local district Social Services employees and alternate certifiers who are responsible for identifying eligible HEAP applicants and awarding HEAP benefits.
HEAP Eligibility and Certification uses interactive examples to review how to process and verify an application for HEAP, how to determine the eligibility of an applicant, and how to calculate the value of any benefit that may be due to a household in need. Case studies are used to illustrate the decision making process for both Regular and Emergency HEAP benefit decisions.
New for 2008 is training to introduce the new HEAP Electronic Workbook to local district social services workers and alternate certifiers. Using the HEAP Electronic Workbook (eHEAP) demonstrates to learners how to navigate the system, locate and update existing cases, add or remove members from applicant households with previous HEAP history, and process a completed workbook.
Registration for both courses is now available in STARS.
