Temporary Assistance (TA) Budgeting and Coding

The "TA Budgeting & Coding" module is a project of the Blended learning work group. The web-based lessons are structured to provide on demand, topic specific training to workers at all levels of knowledge and experience. This training module is designed to provide trainees with the key concepts, knowledge, and skills they need to successfully complete the Temporary Assistance budgeting process. The two modules of the course that are now available as a pilot release are “Introduction to the Budgeting Process” and “Determining the TA Household.” STARS registration is not required to access these drawers. Instead, login to TrainingSpace and look for the TA Budgeting and Coding graphic on the home page.

Child Only Materials

These documents provide an overview of the TA and Food Stamp policies and procedures related to the three types of Child Only cases. Flowcharts and sample cases provide practical examples for your use.

Journey: Pathway through History

The long-awaited module of “Journey” is now available on TrainingSpace. Use the Journey time machine to travel from 58 BC to the year 2000, and trace the origins of Social Services!  Collect “time tokens” along the way to build a historical record of your journey and achieve your certificate of completion! Registration for “Journey: Pathway through History” is available through STARS.

TA Training Brochure

The newest Temporary Assistance Training Brochure is available on TrainingSpace. The brochure provides a quick comparison between the Institute for Temporary Assistance Programs (ITAP), a 10-day training program, which provides core training for new Temporary Assistance (TA) workers, and the 5-day Selected Topics from the Institute for Temporary Assistance Programs designed for more experienced TA staff. You can find the brochure in the Materials section on TrainingSpace.

Institute for Temporary Assistance Programs (ITAP) Wrap Around

Revisions to Phase 5 Post-ITAP materials are now complete and are available under the Materials section. The Post-ITAP materials will reinforce the content covered in both the classroom and online phases of the ITAP training. Phase 5 of the Wrap Around is the final phase for the Institute for Temporary Assistance Programs. After completing Phases 1 & 3 and attending the ITAP classroom training, Phase 5 provides the opportunity for Social Welfare Examiners to review more advanced topics, and expand their knowledge base even further as they continue to learn and grow on the job.  Specific topics include: Program Requirements, Advanced Budgeting, Handling Overpayments, and Additional Reference Materials to aid workers on the job.

Microsoft Office & SharePoint Trainings

The Office Training and Automation Project (OTAP) has created several web-based training (WBT) modules to help Microsoft Office 2007 and SharePoint 2007 users. Topics include: Office 2007 Overview, Microsoft Office 2007: Experience the Ribbon WBT, Transitioning to Word 2007: Find a Command WBT;  Outlook 2007: The Calendar & Appointments WBT;  Organizing Your Mail in Outlook 2007: Categories, Flags, and the To-Do Bar WBT;  Surviving (and Thriving) in a Mixed Office Environment;  SharePoint 2007 Overview WBT. You can find a link to the trainings in the TrainingSpace catalog under "Software training."
