Module 2: Important Information for Custodial Parents

What happens if the parents are in two different locations?

Graphic of custodial parent and children in one location and the non-custodial parent in another.

If the parents are located in two different locations, there should be no difference in the services provided. This is true even when the parents are living in different states. However, the child support office where the CP lives, or where the child support order is established, has responsibility for monitoring the order and sending the pay CSE to the CP.

Both parents must notify their Local CSE Unit anytime they move and have a change of address. Otherwise, CSE will not know where to send payments or be able to properly assist with child support matters.
