Unemployment Insurance Benefits (UIB) Intercept
What Happens?
NYS Dept. of Labor deducts child support from unemployment insurance payments and sends them to the Support Collection Unit.
Why it Happens?
Any case eligible for Income Execution in which the NCP is receiving unemployment insurance benefits is eligible.
Example: money gets deducted from UIB checks to pay for child support
Sarah is a programmer who lost her job when her company laid off workers to reduce expenses. Before she was let go, her employer was sending in her child support payments through Income Execution. Now that she is receiving unemployment benefits, the NYS Dept. of Labor is deducting money from her checks to continue her child support payments.
