Module 1: Overview of NYS CSE Program

Support Enforcement: Administrative Enforcement

Administrative actions are automatically taken by the SCU when the child support computer system indicates that a case meets specific criteria.

In most administrative actions, a notice is mailed to the non-custodial parent (NCP) that:
  • Explains the enforcement process and why the account is eligible;
  • Gives a timeframe for complying with or challenging the action;
  • Provides instructions on how to comply or challenge; and
  • Describes what will happen if the NCP fails to comply with the instructions.

More than one action may occur at the same time depending on the amount due or the length of time the debt is owed.
