Intake: Opening A Child Support Case

To open a child support case, the caseworker needs to perform certain activities. These may include:

  • Reviewing information supplied by the client (child support application, birth certificates, divorce decrees, tax returns, etc.)
  • Interviewing the client and the absent parent
  • Determining what services and actions are needed
  • Assisting the parent in completing a "Statement of Alleged Paternity" in cases where paternity has not been established
  • Creating a new child support case on the CSE Computer System to track case actions
