Cognos
A variety of Cognos training is available, based on the different Cognos applications in use throughout the state.
Training on Cognos Impromptu is available based on the different data repositories – WRTS, SOS, and Data Warehouse. For information on Cognos Impromptu training, contact your project administrator.
Cognos ReportNet and Cognos 8 Business Intelligence (BI) training is currently offered for two ad hoc reporting tools available to users – Query Studio and Report Studio. Both versions of the Cognos suite (ReportNet and Cognos 8) offer Query Studio and Report Studio.
Query Studio is the entry-level reporting tool, which is appropriate for novice and intermediate report generators. Those who complete the Cognos Query Studio CBT will acquire the knowledge to create basic report queries using Query Studio.
Report Studio is the higher-level reporting tool, which should be reserved for advanced report generators with prior ad hoc experience. Those who complete the Cognos Report Studio CBT will have an increased understanding of how to generate complex data reports.
The Cognos Report Studio Classroom Training provides hands-on instruction in a computer lab for Report Studio users, utilizing relevant workplace examples. The current version of Report Studio training is based on the Cognos ReportNet application suite. Additional classroom training on report authoring using Cognos 8 BI will be made available in the future.
The CBTs are available to all users, but users must request and be assigned a Query Studio or Report Studio license to use the actual reporting tool. The classroom training is reserved for those who have been assigned a Report Studio reporting license. To obtain a license, contact the project administrator.
