Program Description
“Trauma-Informed Care in Child and Adolescent Residential Settings” is a recording of a teleconference broadcast on May 1, 2008. This broadcast, second in the series, follows the May 1 broadcast on Trauma and Mental Health, “What Happened to this Child?” It will feature hands-on practice information for all levels of staff in OCFS operated and licensed out-of-home residential care facilities for children and youth. You will learn very practical ways to put the information learned in the first part to work in daily activities and individual interactions with children and youth in care.
Presenters: Dr. Joseph Benamati, MSW, EdD, Benamati and Associates, Training and Consultation Services with Troy Miller, childcare worker, presently at Parsons Child and Family Center in Albany.
Target Audience
- NYS OCFS staff from Department of Juvenile Justice & Opportunities for Youth (DJJOY) facilities
- Local district staff with out-of-home care responsibilities
- Voluntary agency staff providing out-of-home care for youth on behalf of OCFS (includes child welfare (foster care) agencies and juvenile justice/detention services staff)
