Legal Updates for CPS and Child Welfare Spring 2009
Program Description
This TrainingSpace Course is a recording of a teleconference previously broadcast on 6/18/09. The purpose of this course is to review highlights of recent case law affecting Child Protective Services, Foster Care and Adoption casework in New York State. This teleconference will include reviews of recent case law on issues concerning, but not limited to: Removals of children, General Neglect, Sexual Perpetrator in the home, Substance Abuse, Physical Abuse, Sexual Abuse, Article 10 Dispositions and Permanency Hearings, General Termination Issues, Abandonment, Mental Illness and Mental Retardation, Permanent Neglect and TPR Dispositions.
This teleconference will also include a discussion of Current Issues on Relative Placement Options.
This course has been approved to meet 2 hours of the required CPS In-Service.
Presenter
Margaret Burt, Esq. is a consultant trainer for SUNY Stony Brook. For the past 19 years Ms. Burt has conducted training on legal issues for both new and experienced child welfare and CPS staff.
Target Audience
- Target audience is experienced (on the job more than one year) child welfare and CPS staff, senior caseworkers, supervisors, directors of service and local district social services attorneys.
