Program Description
This TrainingSpace Course is a recording of a teleconference previously broadcast on 12/14/09. The purpose of this course is to review highlights of recent caselaw affecting Child Protective Services, Foster Care and Adoption casework in New York State. This teleconference will include reviews of recent caselaw on issues concerning, but not limited to: Removals and General Abuse and Neglect Issues, General Neglect, Substance Abuse, Physical Abuse, Sexual Abuse, Article 10 Dispositions and Permanency Hearings, General Termination Issues, Abandonment, Mental Illness and Mental Retardation, and TPR Dispositions.
This course has been approved to meet 2 hours of the required CPS In-Service.
Presenter
Margaret Burt, Esq. is a consultant trainer for SUNY Stony Brook. For the past 19 years Ms. Burt has conducted training on legal issues for both new and experienced child welfare and CPS staff.
Target Audience
- Target audience is experienced (on the job more than one year) child welfare and CPS staff, senior caseworkers, supervisors, directors of service and local district social services attorneys.
