New York City Food Stamps - Earned and Unearned Income
Course Description
The NYC Food Stamps - Earned and Unearned Income web-based course provides learners with the opportunity to learn about different types of income sources, both earned and unearned, and show how these sources should be entered into the Paperless Office System (POS) in order for the Automated Budgeting and Eligibility Logic (ABEL) system to accurately calculate a household’s Food Stamps budget.
The suite of New York City Food Stamps trainings is designed to increase learner competency in understanding the Food Stamps Budget process and all of its component parts. Workers will be able to apply knowledge and skills gained to increase their efficiency and reduce the number of preventable errors.
Objectives
Upon successful completion of this course, the student should be able to:
- Describe each step of the Food Stamps budgeting process.
- Identify various sources of income as earned or unearned.
- Understand the difference between income exclusions and deductions.
- List and describe each of the Income Limit Tests.
- Illustrate how the Food Stamps benefit is calculated.
- Describe how income data is entered into the Paperless Office System (POS).
- Use the Budget Summary Report to validate your data entry.
Target Audience
This course is intended for New York City Food Stamps Specialists, who work exclusively with Food Stamps caseloads.
