Documenting Casework Contacts with Foster Children
Description
This course provides Local District and Voluntary Agency casework and supervisory staff with detailed instruction on the proper completion of progress notes that document casework contacts with foster children. Proceeding at their own pace, learners will discover the proper coding for this type of progress note, the appropriate content of narratives, and supports available to help maintain compliance with the contact requirements.

- Lesson1: Casework Contact Requirements provides instruction on the essential elements that comprise a casework contact with a foster child, how frequently those contacts have to be made, and an overview of the other foster care and CPS/child welfare contact requirements.
- Lesson 2: Proper Documentation of Casework Contacts with Foster Children provides learners with detailed instruction on the values to use within progress note data fields when recording casework contacts with foster children, including contacts with multiple purposes and an overview of the principles regarding the appropriate content of progress note narratives.
- Lesson 3: Support and Compliance Monitoring Tools provides an introduction to reports to help caseworkers and their supervisors determine if monthly casework contacts are being made as well as to resources available for assistance with CONNECTIONS.
- Course Wrap Up provides a review of the course and navigation to course assessments.
Registration

Prerequisites
Learners taking this course should be experienced CONNECTIONS users or if new to CONNNECTIONS, should have already completed the TS: Introduction to Your CONNECTIONS Workload computer-based training, which is available on Training Space and the Working with Progress Notes in CONNECTIONS iLinc training or the equivalent modules provided in the CONNECTIONS case management classroom courses.Course Length
